The International Collection of Naïve Art

Bird painting with real feathers

Bird with real feathers
From the collection of Jessica Paterson

When I was a child in the 1970s you could find several examples of this sort of art on relatives' and neighbours' walls, along with paintings of a clown crying or semi-naked women lying next to tigers on a beach with the moon reflected in the sea. I admired and coveted this sort of painting/collage but we never bought one. I also wanted that picture of the dogs playing poker.
